Artistic Director & Choreographer
A keen and enthusiastic learner, Chinmoyee, believes that the process of learning never stops, and the purpose of her life is to fulfil her dreams and to uplift others. She completed her schooling from Central Academy, Lucknow & is pursuing Bachelors of Commerce from Isabella Thoburn College. She started her dance journey at the age of 9 and graduated in Bharatanatyam in the year 2015 followed by her Arangetram (official debut performance in Tanjore style) conducted by guru Kalashree Amrit Sinha (senior disciple of Padmabhushan awardee guru Dr Saroja Vaidyanathan & Kalaimamani Rama Vaidyanathan).
Artistic Director & Story-Teller
As a dancer, Shachi feels that there are infinite possibilities
within our bodies. We can move in innumerable ways,
using so many different dimensions, telling uncountable
number of stories through movements. She believes that if two
dance styles are mixed without disturbing the core principles,
a new style can be achieved. It may employ any dance
technique, or arbitrary combination of techniques associated
with any type of dance.Trained in BHARATANATYAM under guru
Kalashree Amrit Sinha (senior disciple of Padmabhushan
awardee - guru Dr Saroja Vaidyanathan &
Kalaimamani Rama Vaidyanathan, New Delhi),
and CONTEMPORARY under Punit Mittal
(ex-instructor Terence Lewis Academy, Mumbai),
Shachi came up with the idea of NIRGUNA
(which literally means - the one without any attributes,
one of the many names of Lord Shiva)
FOUNDATION/COMAPANY in 2015, right after an important
performance which shook her till the core of her soul.
She realised that Indian art forms, (majorly Bharatanatyam),
need to be decoded & made equally accessible to all, &
not just limited till the province from which they originated.
She aspires to present Indian art forms especially Bharatanatyam
in such a way that brings transition to the dance form which
in turn will keep it alive for generations to come irrespective of their
origin. As a traveler she loves to visit different parts of the world,
which, she believes, helps a lot in creating movements inspired by
those places. Also, its her goal to make dance accessible
through her foundation, to people around the world
(especially from the remote & tribal areas) who
are unaware of its existence & power. As a story-teller, she believes
that movements can speak louder than words usually do.
Movement (& stillness) can heal better than medicines (Movement
Medicine Therapy). She wishes to tell stories that can have an
impact on human brains resulting which can bring about change in the present
scenario of Mother Earth for better.
